Lo Shea began his musical life as a kid jumping up and down on his bed listening to his brother and sister’s records. He progressed onto the guitar, then bands, only to finally settle in the world of electronic music in the 90’s via a love for technology and the uses of it in the hands of a curious mind. The 90’s to mid 2000’s saw Lo Shea start his dj career in Sheffield playing backrooms in an eclectic freeform experimental approach which moved into more punishing jungle and drum and bass forms in the mid 90’s. Holding down a residency at the Legendary NY Sushi as well as releasing on Formation/New Identity before setting up his own recording studio for his own productions, he later branched out into writing and performing in bands, as well as producing work for other singer songwriters at the same time.
In more recent years, Lo Shea has curated and run Hope Works – Sheffield’s de facto club institution. In his capacity as programmer and resident, he’s booked and played with a vast array of artists from across the electronic universe from Jeff Mills to Nina Kraviz, via Theo Parrish and Floating Points to Lee Gamble and Helena Hauff. As a resident, he has used his deep musical knowledge spanning over 20 years across genres and style, always vowing to create a fitting support for the guests he books.
Lo Shea has played at some of the best clubs in the world: Berghain/Panorama Bar, Fabric Room 1 and even Air Tokyo before its closure. He has recently added 5 dates supporting the new 17 Steps European Tour with Dusky, and after supporting Bicep (live) this past October, that very warm up set will see a release on the Feel My Bicep Podcast on 30th November. He’s had a coveted Resident Advisor Podcast, a Solid Steel Mix, Fabric promo Mix, releases on Phonica Records, SZE, DEXT, 17 Steps, Hope Works, Seaghdha, 100Years, Never Learnt and now most recently Rekids with a Thor remix.
