“Amidst a sea of wallpaper house, Decius’ tunes stand out deliciously. A soundtrack for dark sweaty basements and back rooms”. – DJ Mag Top Albums of 2022
“Decius Vol. I is a ManDisco Manifesto, a sordid thrill of an album that’s both hilarious and hardcore. It’s also the best album of the year” – The Quietus
“A loose amalgam of England’s most troublesome, wayward and wanton musicians. Decius gets the groove going in a different way, they kind of come at you out of the dark” – Iggy Pop
Decius is the smell of a Friday night in an 80’s Chicago nightclub mixed with the sound of a reverberation from a 70’s New York bathhouse, then squeezed through a broken Brixton filter.
Founded by brothers Liam and Luke May, (Trashmouth Records/Medicine 8), together with Quinn Whalley (Paranoid London/Warmduscher) and Fat White Family frontman Lias Saoudi. Those with an ear to the ground and a nose to the glory hole will know that while Decius is very much nightclub music, its seeds are swollen with punk energy. Using passion and machines to illicit dancefloor sex faces.
Taking their name from the Roman emperor who ruled from 249AD until 251AD, when he was killed by the Goths in the Battle of Abritus. There’s every chance Decius will meet a similar fate, but in the meantime they’re here to rule the sweatiest rooms, fiddling with knobs and screaming into the abyss as the world burns… Bring a towel.
Decius live sets to date include: Berghain 19th Birthday; Glastonbury (Assembly at Silver Hayes & NYC Downlow at Block 9); Les Nuites Sonores Festival (Lyon); La Route Du Rock Festival (Saint-Malo); Opium Club 10th Birthday (Vilnius); Convenanza Festival (Carcassonne); Valentino Aftershow Party at Maxim’s (Paris Fashion Week); Insomnia Festival (Tromsø, Norway). They count the likes of Dixon, DJ Harvey; Honey Dijon, Mochakk, Or:La, Iggy Pop and Depeche Mode, as fans.
