DJ SUBARU

DJ Subaru is UK based producer, DJ and party promoter who’s output, outlook and outreach is imbued with an appreciation for the values of the foundation of club culture, whilst imbuing the present moment with a current of outsider sonic expression.

DJ Subaru is rightfully known as a stalwart of the thriving underground dance scene in Leeds with a residency position at Lovemuscle, one of the institutions of Queer clubbing in the north of England as well as standing at the helm of her own party, Pleaseuremaxxx, the forward-thinking Queer dance gathering that takes place at the Hope House Gallery, home to the renowned Cosmic Slop soundsystem.

Those with a sensitivity to such phenomena will be aware that there is a lifeline of fruitful sonic and cultural feedback between Berlin and Leeds, that of which Subaru is one of the most vibrant conduits  – wether that’s as a beloved resident of cult party series of disco hedonism PDA, her three appearances at Berghain over the course of this year so far, or through the invitation of giant of the scene Palms Trax to play back-to-back at the legendary Sound Metaphors Mayday party.

However, her capabilities are not just limited to selecting records. The prolific emissions of Subaru Studios encompasses not just her work as a recording engineer and producer for other acts but also her own stream of music such as Lots Of Love, a 4-track EP plus a lovingly crafted Prins Thomas remix, that saw the light of day on Palms Trax’s CWPT label or Babes in Love, her endeavour with Baby Mauritius of which the single Surrender was released on Sound Metaphors.

With many strings to her bow, it’s impossible to deny that Subaru is a channel for the authentic expression of dance music culture, drenched in the honey of a raw, DIY, non-conformist sensibility.
